Breakfast Buns

Keep it simple and quick for work days or zhuzh it up for a special morning treat!

This bun can be assembled with any ingredients you like. This 'recipe' is just a jumping off point for you to go and create the breakfast sandwich worth getting out of bed for.

Prep Time: 5 min

Cook time: 5 min

Yield: 1

Ingredients

  • poppy seed kaiser buns

  • butter

  • lettuce

  • tomato

  • pickled onions (see recipe)

  • pickles

  • fried egg

  • mayonnaise

  • mustard

Directions

  1. Slice kaiser buns in half and butter both sides. Toast lightly under a broiler or in a toaster oven.

  2. Heat a small frying pan to medium. Add a dollop of butter & allow it to melt and start to bubble before cracking an egg into the pan. Cook the egg to your desired doneness.

  3. Wash and prepare lettuce, tomato and pickles.

  4. Spread mayonnaise on both sides of the bun. Start by placing down your lettuce followed by sliced tomato, and then fried egg. Top with pickles & pickled onions & mustard on the top bun.

Zhuzh it up!

  • Anything can be added or taken away from this sandwich to make it your own. Change up the veggies, maybe make it a veggie sandwich with some grilled eggplant or zucchini.

  • Add your favourite condiment or spread, maybe a spicy Sriracha mayo or your favourite grainy mustard.

  • Pile on some meat, try your favourite sliced deli meat, hot out of the pan bacon or that leftover meat from last night.

  • Make that egg extra tasty, fry it up in pesto or chili crisp to add an extra layer of flavour.
