Create a savoury or sweet tart using this easy-to-make tart dough that is perfectly flaky and crispy.

Prep Time: 30 min

Cook time: ~ 1hr

Yield: 1 8-10 inch crust

Ingredients

  • 240g all-purpose flour

  • 2 tbsp sugar

  • 1/4 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 115g cold butter

  • 6 tbsp sour cream

  • cold water by the tbsp

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

  2. Measure out the cold butter and grate into your dry ingredients using a large toothed box-grater. Once all the butter is grated, mix into the dry ingredients using your hands.

  3. Add the sour cream to the bowl.

  4. Using a fork, mix together the works until you've got clumps of dough that when you pick up a handful they stick together when you squeeze it and doesn't fall apart easily.

  5. If your dough is falling apart easily, add cold water a tablespoon at a time, until your dough is a bit shaggy but holds together when squeezed.

  6. Form into a ball and place on a counter dusted with flour. Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough to fit your pan.
